Her 79-year-old mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia two years ago. Her mother lives with her husband, who is 12 years younger than her, in the same neighborhood as Mrs. Attinger. Mrs. Attinger has a sister and a brother. Together with her sister, she takes care of her mother on a daily basis, helping with household chores, preparing medications, and accompanying her to appointments.
