TRANSCRIPT

I: But do you know the wishes of your sister or your family? Is that something, where you would say you would have good, close conversations with each other that you ... E: I can't say that about my mum. Because I have to say, it's really not easy with my mum. My mum had this stroke when she was 51 and a few years before that she [got] together with her current partner and since the stroke she hasn't been the same person. And when she was [together] with my father, she was a different person than she is now, with her current partner. And that's kind of the way it is! Partly also politically at the other end of where she was before. That's why, the way I would have assessed my mum in the past, she probably wouldn't choose life-prolonging methods. But maybe she would today. I know it or maybe is not the case. Phew, I find it difficult with my mum. With my sister, I would say that as long as she had a good chance of living a more or less normal life, she would want to take life-prolonging measures. But if she was paralysed or something like that or had severe brain damage, then she would probably prefer to die, that's my assessment. So her life is really so much/this fear is not really that: "am I afraid of dying?" It's not my sister's biggest problem now.
