Tanja U.

Tanja U. has a father who suffers from Parkinson's disease. When she learns about her father's illness, she is already an adult and reacts calmly, also because her father still has few symptoms at this time. She does not see her father very often and when she does, it is rather brief. That is why she does not notice some things about Parkinson's disease. After the start of deep brain stimulation, she remembers her father's manic phases in particular, which then subsided.

TRANSCRIPT

For my father it was certainly bad, for my mother too. For us children, yes, it didn't mean that much. So you knew, "okay, this is a bad disease, it's getting worse and worse," but my father's current condition was still good. You didn't notice anything yet. So nothing changed in one fell swoop.
