Tanja U.

Tanja U. has a father who suffers from Parkinson's disease. When she learns about her father's illness, she is already an adult and reacts calmly, also because her father still has few symptoms at this time. She does not see her father very often and when she does, it is rather brief. That is why she does not notice some things about Parkinson's disease. After the start of deep brain stimulation, she remembers her father's manic phases in particular, which then subsided.

Video Interview

TRANSCRIPT

It actually started when my father always had such pain in his elbow and then it was felt that it was tennis elbow maybe that needed to be operated on, or maybe that would do some good. For a long time he always complained that it hurt. And then he had the surgery. And if I remember correctly, it didn't really help. And then, I think, they started to investigate further and then they did the dopamine test. And then he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
