In 2017, she started Deep Brain Stimulation therapy. In the time before treatment, she was very unwell and sees Deep Brain Stimulation as a last resort. At the time of the interview, the surgery was seven years ago. Even before receiving the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, Roswitha S. had quit her job as a biology teacher. Roswitha S. seeks a second opinion.

Then I wanted to have a second opinion and so I went to C [hospital name] and then met Doctor K [name] and he offered me relatively quickly that this deep brain stimulation would also be an option. But at the beginning I unfortunately rejected it. I thought, "yes, as long as the medication is still working, I'm certainly not going to have anything done in the brain". [...] And then the time came when the pills no longer had the same effect. And then I thought about what options I had. And then I decided to do it.
