Non mi ero mai trovata di fronte a una situazione del genere. E devo dire onestamente che in ospedale mi hanno detto solo che si trattava di delirio. E questo è davvero tutto. C'è un opuscolo sull'argomento in ospedale. L'ho letto, ma non mi ha aiutato molto. Ho cercato di affrontarlo al meglio delle mie possibilità. Mi è stato detto che bisogna riportarlo a persone familiari, per così dire,

Mme Yvonne Y, fille, bien que confiante dans les soins pour son père, aurait souhaité plus de soutien pour elle-même.

E : Eh bien, je me suis sentie impuissante à partir du moment où il [le père] m'a dit des choses qui n'étaient pas vraies, qui n'étaient pas vraies. Je ne savais pas comment y faire face. Je n'avais jamais été confronté à une telle situation auparavant. Et je dois dire très honnêtement que tout ce qu'ils m'ont dit à l'hôpital, c'est que c'était du délire. Et c'est vraiment tout. Il y a une brochure à ce sujet à l'hôpital. Je l'ai lu, mais ça ne m'a pas vraiment aidé. J'ai essayé d'y faire face du mieux que je pouvais. On m'a dit que je devais le ramener à des personnes familières, en quelque sorte, 
I : Avec des personnes familières ou...

E : Pour le ramener vers nous. Nous avons ensuite accroché des photos de notre famille.

Mme Yvonne Y avait besoin de soutien pour elle-même.

Frau Yvonne Y., Tochter, hatte zwar Vertrauen in die Pflege ihres Vaters, hätte sich aber mehr Unterstützung für sich selbst gewünscht.

Also ich habe mich ab dem Zeitpunkt hilflos gefühlt, als er [der Vater] mir Sachen erzählte, die nicht stimmten, die nicht wahr sind. Ich wusste nicht wie ich damit umgehen sollte. Ich war noch nie mit so einer Situation konfrontiert. Und ich muss ganz ehrlich sagen, man hat mir im Spital nur gesagt, das sei ein Delir. Und mehr eigentlich nicht. Es gibt eine Broschüre dazu im Spital. Ich habe sie gelesen, aber wirklich geholfen hat sie mir nicht. Ich habe nach meinem besten Gewissen versucht das anzugehen. Man hat mir gesagt, man müsse ihn quasi wieder mit vertrauten,

E: näher zu bringen. Wir haben dann Fotos von unserer Familie aufgehängt.

So I felt helpless from the time he [the father] told me things that were not true, that were not true. I didn't know how to deal with it. I had never faced a situation like that before. And I have to say quite honestly, they just told me in the hospital that it was delirium. And that's really all it was. There is a brochure about it in the hospital. I read it, but it didn't really help me. I tried to deal with it to the best of my ability. I was told that it had to be done with familiar people again, so to speak,

Relatives can feel lost and often do not understand how ICU procedures work. Some reported a positive feeling and confidence that their loved one was being well cared for. However, most relatives said they would have liked more support during the difficult time.

With the technical and medical possibilities on intensive care a patient can be able to survive life-threatening illnesses. Experiences in Intensive Care

So I felt comfortable in the sense that I knew he was in good hands. I always had a good feeling there. I knew that it was a super hospital. That he had the care, that they were there 24/7. I wasn't worried that he was missing anything, that he wasn't. It was more about taking care of me as a family member in this difficult situation.
